The Federal Government has inaugurated a 12-man Inter-Ministerial Committee to ensure a successful celebration of the nation’s 61st Independence Anniversary.
The Committee, headed by Secretary to the Government (SGF) of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, is to plan, organise and execute all approved activities towards a befitting event.
Speaking at the inauguration, yesterday, in Abuja, the SGF said it was necessary for the Committee to come up with a cost-effective and befitting anniversary.
He said the Committee would implement some of the activities designed by the sub-committee, which include an award night, church service, Jumma’at prayers, national broadcast and parade.
Members of the Committee include Minister of Information and Culture, Minister of Interior Minister of FCT, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Minister of Health, and others.
Chairman of the Ownership Sub-Committee of Nigeria @61 and Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, gave the breakdown of the stewardship of the committee during the 60th Independence Anniversary, which included the exhibition of made-in-Nigeria products and photo exhibitions that would showcase Nigeria’s political history, among others.
He said as part of the event marking the 61st Independence Anniversary, on September 3, 2021, at Transcorp Hotel, there would be the Nigeria @60 Special Awards ceremony to recognise and honour 60 exceptional Nigerians, who have contributed immensely to the development of the economy.
